A talk about the work of American painter Helen Frankenthaler between exhibition curator Douglas Dreishpoon and author Mary Gabriel. A Pulitzer Prize finalist and author of Ninth Street Women: Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartigan, Joan Mitchell, and Helen Frankenthaler – Five Painters and the Movement That Changed Modern Art in 2018, Mary Gabriel specializes in the work of these five artists against the background of New York and American Abstraction in the mid-20th century.
