Maman, by Louise Bourgeois

PERSPECTIVES

Spiders are a recurring motif in the work of Louise Bourgeois, who uses them to pay tribute to her mother, a weaver. Leticia Dolera, actress and director, and Marta Blàvia, member of the Museum’s curatorial staff, find shelter beneath Maman (1999), Bourgeois’s giant spider, to analyze its symbolic meaning for the artist.
